Kevin Ceccon wins again in Imola, and returns in TCR Italy title contenders

Kevin Ceccon potential hasn’t changed during the summer break. The Bergamo-based driver who won Race-1 in the last ACI Racing Weekend in Imola last July, repeated himself during 7th ACI Racing Weekend, still held in Imola. At the wheel of Aggressive Team Italia’s Hyundai, Kevin won Race-2 in Imola, scoring his third win of the season, coming back as a strong title contender in crazy race final.

Ceccon is now 4th in the standings after Imola, 13 points off the lead, but the two worst results of the year won’t be considered, as well the last race of Imola it’s sub iudice, so anything could happen for the Mugello finale, scheduled on October 10th. This weekend Kevin had 60kg ballast, maximum expected in the regulation, as well minimum height up to 100mm, conditions which made almost impossible being competitive as per the previous rounds.

Because of this overweight, in Race-1 Kevin had to retired due to a rear suspension failure, due to the heavy bumps occurred in Imola surfaces and curbs. Neither the starts were easy in those conditions, due to lighter opponents car’s conditions, as well with a lower car, the high speed was better for them.

From 7th time in qualifying, due to the reverse grid, Kevin took the lead from the front row in Race-2, managing his rivals come back, although a most difficult car.

“I am very happy with this result. We have completed the weekend on a high note, and we came back in the title’s battle. There was not much more that me or the team could do, having raced with 60 kilos of ballast and a ground clearance almost comparable to a road car. We didn’t give up, we worked in free practices to get the best result in qualifying, and despite the retirement in race-1, for race-2 the potential of the car was maximized. I tried to fight as much as I could my rivals who were driving cars in better technical conditions than ours, I think this result should make everyone inside the team proud, because whatever happens we will reach the last championship race fighting for the title” .
