Double podium for Kevin Ceccon in the TCR Europe round in Budapest

It was a great debut for Kevin Ceccon in the TCR Europe: the driver from Bergamo, who showed up on the continental touring car series grid for the first time, jumped on the podium in both races at the Hungaroring, the circuit that held the fourth round of the season. During the weekend, the driver born in 1993 proved to be pretty competitive right from the first few laps at the wheel of the Hyundai Elantra N of Aggressive Team Italia, a team that he already knew well as he raced in the Vallelunga TCR Festival with them. The Magyar weekend saw the driver from Bergamo racing with the protagonists of the TCR World Tour, as the world series shared its Budapest round with the continental one.

In race-1 Ceccon started from the fifth position and, thanks both to an incredible race pace and two overtakes on John Filippi and Viktor Davidovski, brought himself to third place, defending from the Macedonian driver during the last stage of the race. The driver from Bergamo jumped on the lowest step of the podium at his debut in the series, bringing his Hyundai Elantra N into the top 3 and closing the race as the best finisher with the South Korean car in the TCR Europe entry list. Ceccon was then able to replicate this result in race-2: the Italian was very smart at avoiding a crash at Turn 1 – that saw many cars involved – and finished third after a penalty handed to Viktor Andersson from the race direction.

“I’m really happy with the result obtained in Budapest: it was my debut in the TCR Europe, and ending the weekend with two podium finishes gives me a pretty big confidence boost. The two races were both difficult as the Hungaroring is a tricky and challenging track but we gave our best from the first to the last session. I want to thank Aggressive Team Italia, as they gave me this amazing opportunity: we know the potential of the Hyundai Elantra and the team did an incredible job during the whole weekend to maximize it.”
