Kevin Ceccon jumps on the podium of the TCR Italian Festival in Vallelunga

Kevin Ceccon picks up where he left off his adventure in the ACI Racing Weekends. After the podium, first taken away and then handed back from the race direction at Mugello for the TCR Italy weekend last year, he was able to finish third with the Hyundai Elantra of Aggressive Team Italia. The weekend in Rome, even if not part of the TCR Italy, was the perfect occasion to host the Italian round of the World Touring Championship, the TCR World Tour. Ceccon has already written a part of the history of motor racing in the World Championship, winning in 2018 his first race and bringing back Alfa Romeo to the top after 11 years on the iconic circuit of Suzuka.

This was the chance to go back into that paddock that saw him as a protagonist also in 2019 and in 2022, in the electric series, and to find again his former opponents of the past three years in the Italian championship. The technical challenge definitely wasn’t easy, as Ceccon found himself testing the Kumho tires for the first time during the first free practice session, resulting in a 14th place in qualifying. He crossed the finish line in race-1 13th overall, performing even better in race-2 where he finished 14th after starting from the back of the grid – as his team broke the parc fermé regulations to optimize his set-up for the final manche.

With 60 points collected during the weekend, Ceccon ranked third in the special standings of the TCR Italian Festival.

“It wasn’t an easy weekend at all, also due to the high temperatures that we found in Vallelunga. The team worked really well and I’m grateful to Aggressive Team Italia for this opportunity: I came back after eleven months and I had to find immediately again the right confidence, but in the end we finished this round with a podium in the TCR Italian Festival, which represents a good result anyway. I want to thank everyone for the support and all the fans that came to say hi in the paddock!”
