Kevin Ceccon second best Hyundai Motorsport driver in FIA ETCR Round 2 at Budapest

Kevin Ceccon’s second weekend in the FIA ETCR, held at the Budapest track, ends with 39 points collected. An important result that sees the Bergamo-based driver being the second of the Hyundai Motorsport drivers in the King of The Weekend standings, which is the total amount of points collected over the weekend. Kevin finished fifth in the DHL Super Final of the “Fast” pool, continuing his path in the series for electric touring cars after making his debut at Pau in May.

In his group, Ceccon set an excellent third time in qualifying on Saturday with a 1:54.283, second among the Hyundai cars. This performance allowed him to access the Quarter Final 1, finished in third place after having immediately tried to conquer the leadership at the start. The challenge continued on Sunday morning with Semi Final 2, with another P3 at the end of a very intense fight at the wheel of his Hyundai Veloster N TCR. Kevin’s role was to support the brand mates who will continue their commitment at Jarama next week.

The final act at the Hungaroring was the DHL Super Final on Sunday afternoon, over a distance of 5 laps: Ceccon found himself starting sixth on the grid, then delivering a good drive and crossing the finish line in P5, collecting an additional 10 points. Kevin also contributed to the Manufacturers Standings, where every team gets the points of the two best drivers in the standings out of the four entered.

Kevin Ceccon
“The most interesting aspect of my weekend was undoubtedly the speed we showed in Qualifying, where I was able to express my full potential without the hitches I had at Pau. This also highlighted my progress driving the Hyundai Veloster N TCR, with only Mikel collecting more points than I have. If I consider that this is only my second race, I’m very satisfied. The primary goal for me was to not damage the car, for Norbi but also for Nick who will take this seat in Spain in less than a week. I’m very happy to have increased my experience in the category, helping the Hyundai Motorsport team and my teammates: now I will continue cheering for them while remaining available to give my support, as well as continue with my commitment in TCR Italy”.
