Kevin Ceccon, TCR Italy vice-champion with the seasonal record of victories

Kevin Ceccon is TCR Italy’s 2021 vice-champion at the end of a season in which he fought at the top until the end. The Mugello circuit hosted the final weekend in the program, where the driver of Aggressive Team Italia presented himself among the contenders for the title at the wheel of his Hyundai i30 N TCR, coming only one point short from the Italian title.

Ceccon showed his competitiveness on the Tuscan track already with the second time in qualifying on Saturday, and then finished fourth in race 1 on Sunday despite the 40 kilograms of ballast on board and  a problem with the window, which remained open and led to the # 31 car to lose aerodynamic efficiency.

A few hours later the final race of the year took place, with the grid reversed: Kevin started from the seventh spot, and had the task to recover the 16 points separating him from the provisional lead of the standings. He managed to conquer the top of the race on the penultimate lap after completing a great recovery

Kevin has thus achieved the fourth victory of the year, a seasonal record, ending this experience in the TCR Italy Touring Car Championship on a high. The racer from Bergamo came close to the crown after starting the season in less than perfect physical condition, due to the injury to his left arm suffered in a training session during the winter and which inevitably influenced his performance and his season.

“One more point would have been enough to conquer the 2021 TCR Italy title, a pinch of regret is almost natural. Together with Aggressive Team Italy, we must though be satisfied with this season, which ended by hitting the fourth victory, more than any other rival this season. The team offered me an important opportunity after my injury during the winter and I tried to repay the trust in the best way possible, growing weekend after weekend while regaining my physical condition. Despite we never draw too much attention on that, it has been a factor that has played a role. I would also like to congratulate the champion, Antti Buri, and the other opponents with whom I have fought in an exciting way throughout the year, having fun and entertaining the fans”.
