Kevin Ceccon twice on the TCR Italy podium at Misano
Four race starts and four podium finishes. Kevin Ceccon confirms himself as one of the absolute top contenders of the 2022 TCR Italy Touring Car Championship, where he’s got back in action for the third round at Misano Adriatico at the wheel of the Hyundai Elantra N TCR lined up by Aggressive Team Italia. This weekend the Bergamo-based driver got a double P3 finish with which he fuels his ambitions of winning the 2022 Italian title.
The round at the “Marco Simoncelli” circuit was characterized by the summer weather, with very high temperatures which made good tyre management essential. Ceccon also had to face the changes applied to the balance of performance that penalized his car compared to the other competing models.
In Qualifying, the 2021 runner-up set the fifth fastest time in 1:42.452, then immediately switched to attack mode in Race 1 on Saturday getting himself in P4 in the first laps. On the last lap he was then able to deliver the decisive maneuver to get on the podium, with a great overtake at the Quercia corner. In Race 2, on Sunday, Ceccon started from fourth on the grid and at the start managed to climb to third place straight away, a position he kept until the end without making any mistakes, not even after the two safety car moments neutralized the gaps, getting the same result he got the day before.
Thanks to the remarkable performance of this weekend, Ceccon was able to recover a lot of ground in the Drivers’ Standings, climbing up to third place with 143 points. The opportunity of discarding the two worst seasonal results, as per the sporting regulations, allows him to make up for the absence in the previous round at Imola, due to the concomitant commitment as an official Hyundai Motorsport driver in the FIA ETCR at Pau.
The next round of TCR Italy is scheduled for 16-17 July at Mugello.

“At Misano we reaffirmed our competitiveness and our ambitions to win the title, with two more podium finishes. First of all, I want to dedicate these results to my mother, who came to the track to support me: I wanted to give her a nice birthday present! The double third place conquered here at Misano is worth a lot, because the conditions were demanding and we faced the weekend with a car that was really penalized by the balance of performance. We worked well on our Hyundai Elantra N TCR, and we have been able to maximize the potential we had at our disposal. At the end of Race 2 I even tried to grab second place, it was very close. But now we’ll go to Mugello even more determined, aiming for the first victory of the year “.
